This small island east of the Virgin Islands is increasingly carving out a leading role among high-end destinations when it comes to recreational yacht charters.

One of its main strengths is the numerous marinas on its territory, a short distance from each other and the main facilities, such as a convenient international airport.

It is, therefore, no coincidence that St. Maarten is the home port of many yachts over 300 feet and plays an increasingly central role in the pleasure boat industry.

Another key factor that is giving great development to this island is the very developed maritime services sector. Boat parts and accessories suppliers offer a range of products as broad as any other marine accessories retail chain in the United States, but often at much better prices.

From this point of view, the island is helped by its duty-free status, which sometimes allows its patrons to do real bargains.

St. Maarten always seems to be in turmoil for everything related to the nautical sector.

Many shipyards are active on the island, both on the Dutch and French sides, although most of the shipyards are located on the shore of the tranquil Simpson Bay lagoon. Here, several new marinas have been built to meet the growing need for docking and in addition, since the Simpson Bay bridge was recently expanded, ships over 300 feet have free access to the lagoon, finding convenient shelter and excellent services.

As known, the island is administratively divided into two areas of influence; the southern part is part of the Netherlands kingdom, while the northern part belongs to France (hence the double denomination St. Maarten / St. Martin)

Below, we have divided the best available marinas based on nationality and, therefore, based on their geographical position.
