Yacht Charter in France
Luxury Yacht Charter Across the French Riviera and Corsica
A French yacht charter represents the pinnacle of Mediterranean luxury yachting. From the glamour of the French Riviera to the wild beauty of Corsica, France offers an unmatched blend of sophistication, world-class infrastructure, and iconic cruising grounds.
Guests experience legendary ports, prestigious events like the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco’s casinos, refined cuisine, and pristine anchorages—all supported by Europe’s most developed yachting services and transformed into a bespoke, uninterrupted voyage designed around your desires.
Why France Sets the Mediterranean Standard
Few coastlines combine this much glamour with this much infrastructure, and that pairing is why France holds its place at the top of the charter calendar. The ports are among the best equipped in the Mediterranean, the airports are minutes away, and the standard of service ashore matches what guests expect onboard — so a week here runs on your schedule rather than the coast’s. And when the Riviera’s pace is more than you want, Corsica is a crossing away, with a wilder and quieter character entirely:
✔ Home to the Mediterranean’s most iconic ports
✔ Exceptional marinas for superyachts and megayachts
✔ Legendary beach clubs, dining and nightlife
✔ Easy access via international airports
✔ Ideal for short luxury breaks or extended itineraries
✔ Perfect for events, cruising and high-profile charters
A luxury yacht charter in France is ideal for guests seeking glamour, efficiency and elite-level service.

YBH Charter Expert Insight – “What separates a good Riviera week from a great one is rarely the yacht — it’s whether the captain knows the coast. The anchorage that empties out by late afternoon, the harbor office you call the day before, the beach club that will find you a table on a Saturday in August. That knowledge is why I look as closely at the crew I propose as at the boat itself.” — Giulia Di Leo, CEO & Founder, Your Boat Holiday
Top Yacht Charter Regions in France
France’s two cruising regions could hardly be less alike. The French Riviera is the more social of the two: St Tropez‘s beach clubs, Monaco‘s harbour and casinos, Cannes with its festival calendar and the Îles de Lérins just offshore, plus quieter stops at Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer for guests who want the coast without the crowd. Corsica, a crossing to the south, offers the opposite — granite coves that few roads reach, and Bonifacio’s old town on its cliff edge. Most guests choose one for a week; guests with ten to fourteen days often link the two.

Sample Itineraries: French Riviera to Corsica
France rewards thoughtful cruising design, where each route feels purpose‑built. Imagine starting in Nice, cruising to Cannes for a private beach club dinner, then anchoring off Saint‑Tropez for sunset cocktails.
French Riviera Highlights (5–7 days)
Monaco – Cannes – Îles de Lérins – Saint-Tropez
The classic Riviera week: Monaco’s harbor, Cannes and its islands, and a finish in Saint-Tropez. It’s the route most first-time Riviera guests choose, and it works just as well as a long weekend.
Riviera to Corsica (10–14 days)
French Riviera – Bonifacio – Ajaccio – Calvi
For guests who want both coasts: the Riviera’s glamour first, then an open-water crossing to Bonifacio’s cliffs and Corsica’s quieter west coast. The change of pace between the two halves is the point of the route.
Event-Focused Charter
Base in Cannes or Monaco during major international events
Built around a fixed date — a festival, a Grand Prix weekend or a yacht show — with the yacht based in Cannes or Monaco and the rest of the week planned around it. Berths for these weeks are committed months ahead, so the date comes first and the yacht second.

Best Places & Yacht Experiences in France
France offers two remarkably different Mediterranean yacht charter experiences. Along the French Riviera, legendary ports such as Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Monaco combine world-class marinas, beach clubs, dining and events within remarkably short cruising distances. Across the Mediterranean, Corsica offers a wilder alternative of mountain-backed bays, protected anchorages and clear turquoise water. Farther west, the coast of Provence adds dramatic limestone calanques and a more natural cruising experience. Explore some of our favourite places to discover by yacht in France.

France's Seasons: Shoulder Months, High Summer and the Mistral
France offers a long charter season, but each stretch of it has its own mood. April and May are quiet and refined, with mild days and the sea still cool; June to August is the coast at full volume, with the Riviera’s marinas at their busiest and Corsica’s anchorages filling up too; and September, with the sea still warm and the yacht shows in full swing, is the month many returning guests choose.
May to September marks the height of the French Riviera lifestyle — warm, sun-drenched days, lively marinas, and a calendar filled with prestigious events.
June to August draws an international crowd, creating the ideal setting for those seeking high society, fine dining, and vibrant nightlife in destinations like Cannes, Monaco, and Saint‑Tropez.
April and September offer a more refined experience, with mild temperatures, quieter anchorages, and ideal conditions for those who prefer privacy and unhurried cruising.
June and September offer the best balance of warm water and manageable crowds, with May and October suiting guests who prefer a quieter coast.
The Mistral is the one variable worth planning around. When it blows — most often in the cooler months, though it can appear in summer too — it clears the sky and roughens the western end of the coast, so a good captain reads it days ahead and moves the itinerary east, where the water is more sheltered, rather than fighting it. It’s also why a French charter is never really one fixed route: the best weeks here are the ones where the plan bends around conditions without the guests ever noticing the change.
YBH note: One of the best months for a France yacht charter, with long sunny days, increasingly warm seas and the Riviera fully active without the intensity of peak summer. Corsica is equally attractive as the Mediterranean season becomes firmly established.
Fine Dining, Quiet Anchorages and Elite Marinas
A week on the French coast changes register more often than most. A morning might be a swim in the quiet water off the Îles de Lérins, the afternoon a long lunch in Saint-Tropez, and the evening a berth in Monaco with the harbour lit up around you — all reached on your own schedule, with a crew who knows which marina to call ahead and which table to ask for. That mix of spectacle and calm is what the coast does best:
✔ Cruising between glamorous ports and quiet anchorages
✔ Attending world-class events (Cannes Film Festival, Monaco GP)
✔ Dining at Michelin-starred restaurants
✔ Exploring pristine marine parks and coves
✔ Combining high-energy nightlife with serene cruising
✔ Seamless service supported by elite marinas
France delivers both spectacle and refinement at the highest level.
Types of Yachts Available in France
France supports one of the Mediterranean’s deepest charter fleets, and the reason is simple: this is where the industry gathers. The choice here runs from a 90-metre superyacht to an 18-metre catamaran, and the right answer depends far more on how you want to use the week than on how large you want the yacht to be.
Superyachts are what the Riviera does best — deep-water berths in Monaco and Antibes, helicopter links from Nice and a calendar built around them. At this level the coast becomes a private address: the Îles de Lérins by tender in the morning, Monaco at night, with the crew and the berth arranged well ahead. Kamalaya (55m Amels), Olympus (55m Feadship) and Luna (90m Oceanco) represent the range currently available.
Motor yachts in the 38 to 44 metre range are the working core of the fleet — fast enough to link Monaco, Cannes and Saint-Tropez in a single week without losing time to the crossings, and small enough to reach harbours the largest yachts cannot. Emocean (38.2m Rosetti), Night Fury II (43m Columbus) and Extra Time (44.27m Conrad) sit in this group.
Crewed catamarans suit a different Riviera: shallow draft for the quieter anchorages around Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Corsica’s coves, and generous deck space for guests who live outdoors for the week. Black Raptor (18.3m Sunreef), Bohemia (24m Sunreef) and Arktos (24.92m Lagoon) are among those available.
Sailing yachts, at the larger end of the category, offer the coast at a different speed—under canvas, with a full crew, and with a quiet that the busiest weeks on the Riviera rarely allow. Le Ponant, Jasali II, and Puritan represent this side of the fleet.
Popular Builders in France
The fleet on the French coast leans Italian — Benetti, Sanlorenzo, Rossetti, Mondomarine, and Monte Carlo Yachts among them — with Dutch yards Feadship and Oceanco at the large end, and French catamaran builders Lagoon and Fountaine Pajot at the small end. That spread is part of what makes choosing here harder than it looks: the same coast feels quite different depending on whose yard built your yacht.
Amenities Worth Knowing About
The Riviera sets a particular rhythm: long lunches that run into the afternoon, evenings that start late, and a coast busy enough that your yacht is often the quietest place within sight. The features guests ask for most reflect that — somewhere to swim straight off the stern, space to host without leaving the yacht, and reliable connectivity for guests who are rarely fully offline:
Beach club · Deck jacuzzi · Pool · Starlink · Helipad
Where a France Charter Begins
Most France charters begin on the Riviera, where Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is the usual gateway and the main harbors — Antibes, Monaco, Cannes and Saint-Tropez — are a short transfer away. We cover those in detail in our French Riviera guide.
Corsica works differently. The island has its own airports — Ajaccio and Bastia, Calvi in the north-west, and Figari near Bonifacio in the south — and charters typically start from Ajaccio, Calvi, or Bonifacio, with berths tightening in July and August, just as they do on the mainland. For guests combining the two coasts, the crossing from the Riviera is part of the itinerary rather than a separate journey, which is why we plan the two halves together.
